This is one of three lions resting next to the road at the Nairobi Game Park.  We stopped to take pictures and they hardly acknowledged we were there.  It was around noon and they had been sleeping.
This was a little oasis in the middle of a dry area in the game park.  Lots of ducks and birds were playing in the water.
Lee is lucky there were no crocodiles in this pond.  At least I don't think there were.....
Mt. Kenya National Park.  We started hiking at 10,000' and hiked for a couple of hours before the clouds covered the mountain.  Our guide's name was Ephriam.

This is a view of the valley below where we were hiking.  It was lush and green and there was water seeping out of the hillside.  We didn't ever get a good view of Mt. Kenya because of the cloud cover.  Earlier this week two helicopters from Uganda crashed into the mountain because of the weather conditions.

The scenery in this area reminded us of the movie, "Lord of the Rings", and we looked for hobbits to appear any moment.  It was so quiet and peaceful on the mountain and very beautiful.
Back at the sub station with our guide, Ephriam.
Just as we were getting ready to leave, this school bus came chugging up the hill and then got stuck in the mud.  The teacher ordered the school children to get behind and start pushing...amazingly enough, it worked!
I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!  We clapped & cheered for them.
About a quarter of a mile down the road there was another school bus stuck against the side of the hill.  Two British military men told the driver they would report it to the rangers and have them send a tractor.  We pray all these children made it home safely that night.
The only animals we saw in the park were baboons and some bushbacks and they were right at the gate.  They told us we needed a guide to protect us from the wild animals.
This is the river lodge where we stayed.  The landscaping was beautiful and there was a stream running close to the cabins.  It was peaceful and beautiful there.  Lee and I took some spooky night walks along the river.
We stopped on the side of the road to take a picture of the mountains and a woman thought we were taking pictures of her and her children so she sent two dogs after us...
