January 28, 2012 JoGo Market

The Halls took us to the JoGo Market today. The people are actually making the things they sell there:  clothes, purses, backpacks, soccer balls, knitted items, etc.   They are also selling fruits, vegetables and meat.
We watched a man make a leather soccer ball by hand. It takes him 1 1/2 hours to complete one ball. He was using two needles at the same time and each was going in a different direction. He was sewing with two needles at a time -- each going in a different direction!  His hands were bandaged and flying. It was amazing! We bought one to send to the orphanage along with underwear.
The children play while their parents work.  They were sliding down a cement walkway on smashed milk bottles, pieces of wood or anything they could find that would slide.
Here is the soccer ball we donated to the orphanage as a birthday gift to Owen.
